Frequently Asked Questions about Stainless Steel
What kind of stainless steel does BLANCO use?
It’s the hardest working area of your kitchen. Doesn’t it deserve the hardest working sink on the market? We think it does. That’s why all BLANCO stainless steel sinks are created with “surgical grade” stainless steel that is non-porous, hygienic, rust-free and extremely durable. It is premium 304 Series Stainless Steel, made to our own exacting specifications, which are higher than the industry standard. Our superior-gauge material provides the platform for BLANCO craftsmen to create sinks that can last a lifetime. Something to consider when remodeling or planning a kitchen renovation.
What does Chrome-Nickel content mean?
Chrome-Nickel content refers to the percentage of chrome and nickel in the sink’s stainless steel. Chrome gives stainless steel its luster & durability, while nickel provides hardness & strength. 18/8 Stainless Steel means the sink contains 18% Chromium or Chrome and 8% Nickel. Our BLANCO SPEX™ and BLANCO MAGNUM™ sinks have the luster and strength of an excellent 18/8 grade. BLANCO FLOW™, BLANCO PRECISION™, BLANCO ARCON™, BLANCO PERFORMA, BLANCO WAVE™, and BLANCO SUPREME™ collections all have an 18/10 grade, offering even greater durability and superior corrosive resistance.
What kind of finish do BLANCO stainless steel sinks have?
BLANCO stainless steel sinks feature our luxurious satin polished finish, which is a result of our extensive hand-polishing process. This elegant finish, exclusively made in Germany, creates an enduring, easy-to-clean luster that is impervious to water stains and calcium deposits. It can be found on most BLANCO stainless steel sinks, including our BLANCO FLOW™, BLANCO PRECISION™, BLANCO ARCON™, BLANCO PERFORMA, BLANCO WAVE™, and BLANCO SUPREME™ collections. We also offer a satin finish for our BLANCO SPEX™ sink models, which delivers more of a brushed appearance. And our BLANCO STELLAR™ and BLANCO SPEX II™ series features our new Refined Brushed Finish, an easy-to-clean brushed finish that is superior to the traditional American market finish.
What kind of undercoating or sound deadening is applied on BLANCO Stainless Steel sinks?
Like any fine tuned machine, BLANCO Stainless Steel sinks feature the latest innovations in form and function. Sound deadening pads, the same type used by luxury automobile manufacturers, are installed on sink models, including our BLANCO FLOW™, BLANCO PRECISION™, BLANCO ARCON™, BLANCO PERFORMA™, BLANCO WAVE™, BLANCO SUPREME™ and BLANCO STELLAR™ collections. Our BLANCO SPEX™, BLANCO SPEX PLUS™ and BLANCO MAGNUM™ sink models feature a deluxe undercoating applied to them, eliminating condensation, retaining water temperature and providing maximum sound absorption. These devices are used to eliminate unwanted sounds, such as the garbage disposal growl. It’s BLANCO innovation at work in the modern kitchen. STELLAR and SPEX II has both Sound Deadening and Undercoating.
